What is HBO?

Gas cylinder equipment (GBO) is an effective and economical solution for many car owners, but like any technology, it requires proper maintenance and attention to possible malfunctions, including gas leaks. In this article, we will share tips on identifying and eliminating such malfunctions. For specific problems, we recommend contacting to our representatives.

Common problems with HBO

The most common problems with LPG often arise either due to poor-quality equipment or due to lack of or poor maintenance. The most common problem that motorists usually identify is gas leaks when using the LPG system.

Gas leak

If your car has a gas cylinder system, this does not mean that you should smell gas constantly. If you smell it in the cabin or when you are near the gas cylinder, this indicates that the gas cylinder setting is incorrect or the tightness and serviceability of the installed gas equipment has been violated.

Signs of leaks in the HBO system:

  • Smell of gas – The most obvious sign of a gas leak in your car is the smell. If you smell gas around your car or inside, it’s a sign to take immediate action.
  • Increased fuel consumption – An unexplained increase in fuel consumption could be a sign of a leak as the system is losing gas.
  • Leaking Sounds – Listen for any whistling or hissing sounds from the area of the HBO installation, which could indicate a leak.

Solution:

  • Checking the system for leaks: It is important to regularly check all connections and hoses for leaks.
  • Replacing damaged components: If a leak is found, damaged hoses or fittings must be replaced immediately.

What are the types of gas leaks?

First of all, what you need to figure out is the reason for the gas smell, and you need to start with the exhaust pipe. If you smell a characteristic gas smell instead of the usual smell of burnt fuel, this indicates that the equipment has incorrect settings - the fuel is completely burned, and it enters the exhaust pipe along with the exhaust gases. You are unlikely to be able to fix such a malfunction yourself. You will need qualified help from craftsmen and the availability of special equipment that allows you to connect to the gas supply system and check the functioning of all software settings, as well as the operation of all additional devices.

If there is a smell of gas in the car interior, this indicates that there is a leak in the fuel system and most likely, the entire system needs to be diagnosed. It is forbidden to travel in a car with such malfunctions, as this can lead to tragic consequences.

How to identify gas leaks in a car with HBO

There are several methods for determining gas leak locations yourself. The most accurate, reliable and safe is the mechanical method, which consists in applying a special solution to the joints of pipes, threaded joints and other connection points. Bubbles have appeared - this is exactly where it is.
