In our last article, we looked at usage in even more detail additives in oils. We have proven that mineral motor oil for viscosity adjustment should always be at hand. Especially for modern cars. If you missed this information, we recommend that you do so beforehand read it
We have also received feedback that the applications are often unnecessary, or it is believed that their frequent use will be harmful to the engine.
Without exaggeration, all commercial oils have one or the other in them additives. Some brands position themselves openly in this regard, and some prefer not to tell. Be that as it may, all oils need additives to one degree or another.
This is a Fact.
Classic applications in olives
On average, the final product - additive, contains about 80% of base oils. Other 20% are compounds that give it various properties. In addition to settlement viscosity, they allow you to acquire various characteristics. We can divide classic applications into the following categories, namely:
- Cleaning accessories: Without these additives, the oil can easily lead to the formation of soot, oxides, rust, or can even degrade over time. Such additives are mostly antioxidants, antioxidants and interact with metal particles.
- Clogging control applications: Soot, excess carbon, acids can be deposited in the fuel system. That is why thinners or additives that would slow down the formation of tangles and foam are necessary. The absence of such additives can lead to a decrease in the efficiency of the engine, or even cause a malfunction.
- Additives for lubrication: Nanoparticles created to control friction and pressure between engine elements can significantly reduce engine wear and improve vehicle performance.
Most of the classic additives have good lubricating properties, which helps cover the most basic needs. However, you may often need additives for special purposes – restoration and protection of oil seals or maximum cleaning of all system elements, etc.
Many manufacturers say that the technical possibilities for such a product do not exist, but we have a solution.
Supplements with nanoparticles
When we talk about nanoparticles, we mean something contained in the oil, while remaining in a solid state. Nanoparticles do not affect the chemical properties of oils, but allow to obtain significantly better results in work.
Their main purpose is to strengthen the protective and lubricating properties of the oil. Inside the engine, in places where there is friction between metal parts, the risk of wear is very high. Thanks to olives, critical points are less prone to damage, lubricate and age more slowly, but even small interruptions can lead to a loss of engine efficiency. That is why applications come in handy.
In order to minimize the possibility of such irregularities, special applications were developed with nanoparticles that create a film on the surface of the spare parts, which reduces friction much better than classic oils. Molybdenum, PTFE (Teflon™), Graphite, and Ceramics are great examples of such supplements.
We will talk about these and other nanoparticles in the next article. And now we just want to remind you that even those small particles of metal that arise due to friction are solid. These small, as it were, particles eventually become impurities that are captured by the oil filter and harm the operation of the engine. More is possible find out in research.
