API CF

API CF is an American standard that was introduced in 1975 for gasoline engines of the mid‑70s to early‑80s without catalysts and after‑treatment systems. The specification requires a minimum level of wear protection, oxidation stability at 100 °C, sufficient detergency to prevent deposits in the combustion chamber, and compatibility with conventional oil filters. Oils that meet API CF are suitable for passenger gasoline power units with a simple carburetor or electronic injection, as well as for light commercial vehicles without catalytic converters. Although this code does not provide compatibility with SAPS, DPF or catalytic converters, it can be replaced by newer specifications API CG, CH or CI‑4, which retain engine protection requirements and add increased detergency.
