ACEA A3

ACEA A3 code is a requirement of the European Association of Automotive Engine Manufacturers for motor oils, aimed at high‑performance gasoline engines that operate under heavy load and at elevated temperatures. An oil that meets A3 must provide oxidation stability, wear and deposit protection, and also preserve the efficiency of catalytic systems, making it suitable for turbocharged and naturally aspirated gasoline units, including hybrid models with high torque. Technical parameters include a minimum viscosity at 100 °C (≥ 12.5 cSt), high resistance to oxidation and control of deposit formation in the combustion chamber. If your engine is already approved to ACEA A3, you can safely move to newer specifications such as ACEA B3, B4 or C3, which maintain compatibility and add improved protection when using modern exhaust after‑treatment systems.
