The tolerance was created in 2006 and approved in 2007 and is a patented worldwide specification of General Motors (GM) called DEXOS ™.

Occurs on DEXOS1 ™ - for spark-ignition (gasoline) engines, and DEXOS2 ™ - for diesel engines of light mode.
