ZF TE-ML 17C

Specification ZF TE‑ML 17C is a requirement from ZF Friedrichshafen AG for transmission lubricants, developed for automatic 8HP series gearboxes installed in passenger cars, off‑road vehicles and light commercial vehicles. Technically it defines high thermal resistance, stability under high torque, controlled viscosity in the range 0 °C – 100 °C and low susceptibility to oxidation, providing protection against wear of gear wheels, friction discs and hydraulic components. Oil that meets TE‑ML 17C must have excellent anti‑foam properties and compatibility with friction material, preventing overheating and premature ageing of the gearbox. Although the specification does not impose special requirements for SAPS or DPF, it guarantees safe transmission operation in catalyst‑equipped systems, as it contains no components that could poison the catalyst. Choosing a lubricant approved to ZF TE‑ML 17C allows maintaining optimal efficiency of 8HP gearboxes and extending their service life, meeting the manufacturer’s recommendations without the need for additional updates.
