ZF TE-ML 16F

The ZF TE‑ML 16F specification defines the requirements for transmission lubricants for heavy-duty mechanical gearboxes of the ZF series 16, which are installed in commercial trucks, light commercial vehicles and special equipment. The technical description calls for the use of synthetic or semi‑synthetic oils with a viscosity of 75 W‑90 or 75 W‑140, a high level of EP additives, oxidation resistance and retention of properties at temperatures up to 120 °C, as well as protection of synchronizer and gear surfaces from wear. The specification requires compliance with GL‑4/GL‑5 standards, ensuring optimal operation of synchronizer elements with bronze and brass inserts. It is targeted at ZF 16‑S, 16‑R and similar transmissions used in vehicles with high engine torque, including diesel and gasoline power units. Since the requirements pertain only to the transmission system, compatibility with DPF systems or catalytic converters is not critical.
