ZF TE-ML 09A

ZF TE‑ML 09A is a specification from ZF Friedrichshafen AG that defines the requirements for transmission oils for the latest 9‑speed (9HP) and 8‑speed (8HP) automatic gearboxes installed in passenger and light commercial vehicles. Technically it requires a high viscosity index, stability at temperatures up to 150 °C, excellent resistance to oxidation and wear, as well as optimized friction characteristics for smooth shifting and clutch‑pack protection. Oil that meets TE‑ML 09A provides long‑lasting transmission operation without loss of efficiency, prevents the formation of deposits on gears and bearings, and maintains the required level of heat dissipation. Although the specification does not impose special requirements for SAPS or DPF, it is compatible with modern catalysts and emission‑recovery systems used in vehicles with automatic transmissions.
