ZF 8HP

Specification ZF 8HP is the requirement of the German transmission manufacturer ZF Friedrichshafen AG for lubricants intended exclusively for 8‑speed automatic gearboxes of the 8HP series, installed in passenger and crossover vehicles with gasoline and diesel engines. The oil must have high thermal resistance, stability under high torque, low viscosity during cold start, and a special friction characteristic that provides quick and smooth shifts without excessive wear of friction discs and hydraulic valves. Technical requirements include a minimum viscosity of SAE VG + 30 mm²/s at 100 °C, high oxidation resistance, corrosion protection, and compatibility with transmission bearing and seal materials. Although the specification does not impose separate requirements for SAPS or DPF, oil approved to ZF 8HP is compatible with modern catalysts and particulate filters, allowing safe operation of both gasoline and diesel engines.
