ZF 5HP18FL

The ZF 5HP18FL specification defines the requirements for transmission oil intended for 5‑speed automatic gearboxes ZF 5HP18 installed in mid‑class passenger cars (e.g., VW Golf, Audi A4, BMW 3‑Series, Mercedes‑C‑Class). The oil must have a viscosity equivalent to SAE 5W‑30, provide stability under high torque, high resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation, as well as special friction characteristics for smooth shifts and protection of gear teeth. The specification includes compatibility with seals and gearbox materials, as well as safe operation in systems with a catalyst and, if required, with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) without increased SAPS content. Oils meeting ZF 5HP18FL also satisfy the older ZF 5HP and ZF 5HP19FL requirements, allowing their use in models that have not yet transitioned to newer specifications.
