VW G 055 025

Specification VW G 055 025 is a Volkswagen Group requirement for synthetic motor oils, developed for gasoline engines with direct injection (TSI, TSI‑e) and some hybrid powertrains, which operate over a wide range of loads and temperatures. Oil that meets this standard must have a viscosity of 5W‑30 (or equivalent), provide high protective capability against wear, oxidation and corrosion, and also a low content of sulfate, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (low‑SAPS) to prevent deposits on the catalyst. Technical tests include wear test (Horning), oxidation stability (PDSC) and control of deposit formation in the after‑treatment system (SCR). The specification is suitable for 1.0 L‑2.0 L TSI, 1.5 L‑2.0 L e‑TSI engines and similar, including VW, Audi, Škoda and Seat models that require low‑SAPS oil. Although VW G 055 025 is a separate standard, it is compatible with the newer approvals VW 504 00/507 00, allowing the use of modern synthetics without losing warranty compliance.
