VW G 055 005

Specification VW G 055 005 is a Volkswagen Group requirement for transmission oils, intended for automatic gearboxes of the DSG, Tiptronic type and other multi‑speed ATF systems installed in passenger and commercial models of VW, Audi, Škoda and SEAT. Oil that meets this standard must have a stable viscosity in the range of 6.5–7.5 cSt at 100 °C, provide precise friction control for smooth shifting, high thermal resistance and oxidation protection, and also prevent corrosion of metal gearbox components. Testing includes wear tests, heat resistance and compatibility with electronic valves and friction discs, guaranteeing durability and uninterrupted transmission operation. The specification does not impose restrictions regarding SAPS, DPF or catalysts, as it concerns only the transmission system, and can be used as a replacement for older approvals VW G 055 025 if the manufacturer does not require a different standard.
