VW 508 00

VW 508 00 is a specification developed by the Volkswagen Group for gasoline engines with direct injection, including Audi, SEAT, Škoda units and their hybrid variants. The requirement calls for low content of sulfate, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (low‑SAPS), which provides long‑lasting wear protection, reduced deposits and supports optimal fuel economy, as well as safe operation of catalysts in emission systems. The standard meets service intervals up to 30 000 km and ensures stable performance across a wide temperature range, including cold start. Although 508 00 is oriented toward gasoline platforms, it is compatible with the newer VW 504 00/507 00 requirements, which offer similar protection with expanded support for new technologies without loss of compatibility. Oils marked VW 508 00 are suitable for passenger and commercial vehicles of the VAG‑group that require high‑quality synthetic lubricant with a long service life.
