VW 505 00

VW 505 00 is a technical specification developed by the Volkswagen Group for gasoline engines with direct injection (GDI) and traditional injector units installed in VW, Audi, SEAT and Škoda models. The specification requires a low SAPS content, which provides catalyst protection and reduces the risk of deposits in the combustion chamber, and also calls for a viscosity range of 5W‑30/5W‑40 (other options possible) and compliance with ACEA A3/B4 and API SN/CF. Oils marked VW 505 00 guarantee consistent wear protection, control of oxidation and deposits, and also support optimal fuel economy even in highly loaded turbocharged units. Although this specification is aimed exclusively at gasoline engines, it is compatible with the newer VW 504 00/507 00 requirements in cases where the manufacturer permits the use of universal low‑SAPS formulas without voiding warranty conditions.
