VOLVO VDS-3

VOLVO VDS‑3 is a technical approval from the Volvo Group that defines the requirements for engine oils for gasoline and diesel Volvo medium‑displacement engines, including passenger, commercial and hybrid units. The specification requires oxidation stability at high temperatures, control of deposit formation, wear protection and compatibility with catalysts and, when needed, exhaust after‑treatment filters (DPF) through low SAPS content. Oils that meet VDS‑3 must have the appropriate viscosity (e.g., 5W‑30, 10W‑40) and ensure combustion chamber cleanliness, which improves fuel economy and engine durability. The XENUM catalogue features six products, including synthetic and mineral variants DIESEL POWER 10W‑40, DIESEL POWER 15W‑40 and others that have passed VDS‑3 testing while remaining compatible with the older Volvo VDS‑2 approvals without compromising warranty requirements.
