VOLVO 97340 approval is a technical standard of the Volvo Group that defines the requirements for engine oils for VDS‑4 diesel engines installed in Volvo trucks and heavy vehicles. Oil that meets this approval must have a viscosity in the range 5W‑40 or 10W‑40, high oxidation stability, effective wear and corrosion protection, and also the ability to maintain cylinder cleanliness under high temperatures and loads.
