SCANIA LA approval is a technical requirement of the Swedish company Scania AB for engine oils intended for heavy-duty diesel engines of trucks and buses, including models with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system and diesel particulate filters (DPF). It establishes the minimum viscosity (usually 10W‑40), limits on wear indicators, oxidative stability, corrosion protection, and compatibility with after‑treatment systems, ensuring durability, fuel economy, and safe operation under high loads and temperatures. Oils that meet SCANIA LA must have a low content of sulfated, aromatic, and phosphorus compounds (SAPS) so as not to damage catalysts and DPF. In the XENUM catalog this standard is satisfied by the engine oil XENUM DIESEL SYNTH 10W40 E4/E6/E7/E9, which has passed all tests for LA compliance.
