RENAULT RD-2

Renault RD‑2 specification is an approval developed by Renault Group specifically for their diesel engines, used in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Technically it requires engine oil with viscosity corresponding to the 5W‑30/5W‑40 class, high shear stability, wear protection (preventing cavitation deposits) and effective detergent action, often meeting API CJ‑4 and ACEA C3. RD‑2 is targeted at Renault dCi diesel power units installed in models such as Clio, Megane, Kangoo, Master and similar, including engines without low‑SAPS (low sulfur‑ash‑phosphorus) systems and without modern diesel particulate filters (DPF). Oil that meets RD‑2 ensures compatibility with standard catalytic converters and conventional particulate filters, without requiring special low‑SAPS formulations. Using oil approved to RD‑2 guarantees compliance with OEM recommendations, extends engine life, reduces oil consumption and supports optimal operation of the after‑treatment system.
