SAE J2360

SAE J2360 is an international standard that defines the requirements for automatic transmission oils for heavy vehicles. The specification calls for high viscosity at low temperatures (e.g., 75W90), shear stability, excellent oxidative resistance and controlled friction parameters, which provide reliable clutch engagement in torque converters and smooth operation of multi‑disc clutches. Oils that meet SAE J2360 are intended for heavy‑duty diesel engines with automatic gearboxes, including Allison C‑3, C‑4, C‑5 transmissions, as well as similar systems in trucks, buses and special equipment. They are compatible with after‑treatment systems because they do not contain high levels of sulfate and aromatic compounds (SAPS), allowing safe operation with DPF and catalytic converters.
