Specification PUNCH EZL799A is a technical approval that defines the requirements for viscosity, thermal stability and wear protection for synthetic lubricants intended for automatic and hydraulic transmissions of medium and heavy power. Within this specification the lubricant must have a stable viscosity in the range 5W‑40 – 10W‑40, a high viscosity index, low oxidation rate and additives that provide gear protection against corrosion and wear under high load. PUNCH EZL799A is targeted at diesel V6‑V8 engines with a displacement of 2,5‑4,0 L in passenger and commercial vehicles and their automatic gearboxes, which do not require a low‑SAPS formula, so the oil is compatible with conventional catalysts but is not suitable for DPF‑systems. New oils meeting ACEA C3 remain backward compatible, allowing a shift to newer formulas without loss of protection.
