JASO 2ª

JASO 2ª is a Japanese standard for two‑stroke engine oils that sets minimum requirements for mineral or synthetic composition, including the level of nitrogen residues, detergency, anti‑oxidation stability and wear protection. Oils that meet this designation are intended for two‑stroke gasoline engines of small vehicles and equipment – motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, marine outboard and hand tools, where the lubricant is delivered together with the fuel. The specification guarantees stable operation at high temperatures, prevents carbon deposits on cylinder walls and maintains lubrication system efficiency without an elevated content of sulfate, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (SAPS), making it compatible with modern catalysts when they are used. Although JASO 2ª has been in use for a long time, it remains compatible with the newer JASO FA/FB requirements, so oils with this approval can safely replace products designed for stricter standards. In the XENUM catalogue this specification is represented, for example, by the transmission oil XA‑TRAN DX VI, which meets JASO 2ª requirements and provides reliable protection for two‑stroke engines.
