INTERNATIONAL TMS-6816

International specification TMS‑6816 is a technical requirement of Navistar International for transmission lubricants, intended for heavy‑duty and special vehicles equipped with manual or automatic gearboxes with a working viscosity range of 75 W‑90. The specification requires compliance with API GL‑4/GL‑5, high anti‑wear (EP) and oxidation ratings, stability at high temperatures, and retention of viscosity under load, which provides reliable protection of gear wheels, synchronizers, and torque converters. TMS‑6816 does not impose restrictions on SAPS, so lubricants approved to this standard safely operate in engines with catalysts and DPF without degrading their efficiency. In our catalog, this approval is held by transmission oils X‑TRAN 75W90 GL4/5 and X‑TRAN 75W90 GL5, which are suitable for International DuraStar, WorkStar and similar models. If necessary, newer products can be chosen that maintain compatibility with TMS‑6816 while offering improved wear resistance and thermal stability.
