CAT ECF-1

CAT ECF‑1 is the official Caterpillar approval for heavy‑equipment diesel engines, establishing minimum requirements for viscosity, oxidation stability, wear protection and deposit control. The specification provides for reliable operation of Caterpillar V8, V12 and V16 engines up to 15 L, used in construction, mining and agricultural machinery, including truck‑mounted cranes and excavators. Oil that meets CAT ECF‑1 contains a sufficient SAPS level for conventional emission systems, so it is compatible with catalysts, but it is not optimized for low‑SAPS DPF systems. Technical requirements include a minimum viscosity of 10 W‑40, high oxidation resistance (Oxidation Stability ≥ 12 h), corrosion protection and maintenance of oil pressure under load. For newer engines, the CAT ECF‑2 approval has been developed, which is backward compatible with ECF‑1, allowing older machines to continue running on ECF‑1 oils. Choosing an XENUM oil, such as DIESEL SYNTH 10W40, guarantees compliance with these requirements and long‑lasting protection in severe service conditions.
