NISSAN ATF NS-2

The NISSAN ATF NS‑2 specification is Nissan’s requirement for automatic transmission fluids, intended for passenger and crossover models with conventional (non‑CVT) automatic gearboxes, including the Nissan Qashqai, X‑Trail, Altima, Maxima and Pathfinder produced from 2005‑2015. Oil that meets NS‑2 must provide a stable viscosity in the range of 0.75‑0.85 cSt at –40 °C and 2.5‑3.0 cSt at 100 °C, and also exhibit high oxidation resistance, wear protection and adhesion to metal surfaces, preventing overheating and premature failure of hydraulic valves. The specification calls for compatibility with conventional catalysts and does not impose special SAPS requirements, making it suitable for engines without a DPF. Although NS‑2 is no longer used in new models, it remains fully compatible with the similar newer Nissan ATF NS‑3 specification, allowing safe use in service centers that maintain older Nissan vehicles.
