MTU Type 3

MTU Type 3 is a specification set by the German manufacturer of heavy‑duty diesel engines MTU (part of Rolls‑Royce Power Systems) for oils that provide increased wear protection and stability when operating under high loads and temperatures. It is aimed at powerful turbo‑diesel units installed in trucks, buses, marine vessels and industrial installations where long‑lasting operation under high torque is required. Oils that meet MTU Type 3 have enhanced thermal stability, reduce oxidation and deposit formation, extending service intervals and keeping cylinders clean.
