MTU Type 2

MTU Type 2 is a specification developed by the German manufacturer of heavy diesel engines MTU (Rolls‑Royce Power Systems) for oils that provide a high level of wear protection and stability when operating across a wide temperature range, including intensive load and long service periods. Oils approved under MTU Type 2 are intended for powerful turbo‑diesel units in trucks, buses, marine vessels and industrial installations where oxidation resistance and viscosity retention are important. The specification includes compatibility with exhaust after‑treatment systems, in particular particulate filters (DPF) and catalysts, allowing avoidance of premature fouling.
