MB 236.2

Approval MB 236.2 is a technical requirement from Mercedes‑Benz for transmission fluids intended for automatic gearboxes, including 7‑speed 7G‑Tronic, 9‑speed 9G‑Tronic and dual‑clutch DCT, which are installed in both passenger and commercial models of the brand. The fluid must provide stable viscosity over a wide temperature range (from –40 °C to +150 °C), high resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation, as well as specific friction characteristics that guarantee smooth shifting and protect gear wheels and synchronizers from wear. MB 236.2 requirements include low moisture absorption, compatibility with seals and valve‑block materials, and the absence of components that could damage selective catalytic reduction (DPF) systems – although this is not the primary aim of the specification. This approved fluid is suitable for engines with gasoline and diesel units, as it operates in the transmission rather than in the engine itself, and ensures optimal torque transfer under any load. When selecting a product on XENUM, for example the transmission oil XA‑TRAN UNI, you receive full compliance with MB 236.2 and, at the same time, compatibility with newer specifications such as MB 236.10, allowing its use in most modern models without compromising warranty requirements.
