The HYUNDAI/KIA SP‑III specification is the official transmission oil standard developed by Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors for automatic gearboxes, including conventional hydraulic automatic transmissions, CVT and DCT, as well as hybrid transmissions. The SP‑III requirements call for high thermal resistance, stable viscosity across a wide temperature range, and effective protection against gear and friction element wear, ensuring proper cooling and preventing overheating under high loads. The specification is targeted at gasoline and diesel engines of the new‑generation Hyundai and Kia, including models equipped with DPF systems, where compatibility with the catalyst and preservation of exhaust system cleanliness are important.
