GM DEXRON III G

Specification GM DEXRON III G is an automatic transmission fluid developed by General Motors and approved for transmissions that required the DEXRON III standard in the 1990‑2000s. Technically, DEXRON III G specifies a base viscosity of SAE 75 W‑90, high‑temperature stability, controlled shear viscosity, low oxidation level and wear protection thanks to the presence of additives against corrosion, foaming and gear wear. This standard applies to a wide range of GM passenger and commercial models, including transmissions 4L60‑E, 4L80‑E, 4T65‑E, 6L80 and their variants, as well as some older V‑8 engines with automatic. DEXRON III G does not contain high levels of sulfate, aromatic and alkaline (SAPS) components, therefore it is compatible with catalysts, but it is not intended for DPF systems or modern hybrid transmissions. When selecting a lubricant approved to DEXRON III G, products that meet newer approvals such as DEXRON III H or DEXRON VI can be safely used, as they retain backward compatibility and offer improved thermal resistance and protection.
