GM DEXOS 1 GEN 3

GM DEXOS 1 GEN 3 is a modern General Motors specification for gasoline engines that requires synthetic oil with high thermal stability, excellent wear protection, and controlled deposit formation. The specification is targeted at 4‑, 6‑ and V8‑cylinder GM engines with turbocharging, direct fuel injection and DPF systems, as well as light hybrid powertrains, providing stable operation over a wide temperature range and increased fuel economy. Oil that meets DEXOS 1 GEN 3 has a low SAPS content, allowing safe operation with catalysts and soot filters without compromising their effectiveness. Although newer DEXOS 2 specifications now exist, DEXOS 1 GEN 3 remains fully compatible and is often used as a baseline level in many GM models released after 2010, including Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac and Buick.
