FORD XL-12

Specification FORD XL‑12 (often referred to as MERCON XL‑12) is Ford's official standard for automatic transmission fluids, which sets requirements for viscosity, oxidation resistance, wear protection, and controlled friction characteristics needed for smooth gear shifts and long‑lasting operation of rotating components. It is intended for Ford gasoline and diesel engines installed in passenger models (Focus, Mondeo, Fusion) and commercial vehicles (Transit, F‑Series) with automatic gearboxes of 6‑speed, 8‑speed and traditional 4‑speed transmissions. The specification demands high thermal stability and durability under elevated loads, providing protection against oxidative deposits and maintaining an optimal coefficient of friction across various temperatures. Because this is a transmission fluid, requirements for SAPS, DPF or catalytic systems do not apply. XENUM products that meet FORD XL‑12, such as the transmission fluid XA‑TRAN UNI, guarantee compatibility with the listed gearboxes and help preserve the manufacturer's warranty conditions.
