FORD MERCON C

The FORD MERCON C specification is the official Ford transmission oil standard for automatic gearboxes, designed to provide stable viscosity, high oxidation resistance, and effective wear protection across a wide range of operating temperatures. MERCON C calls for the use of mineral base oils with added friction modifiers that ensure proper braking and torque transfer characteristics in 4‑, 5‑ and 6‑speed automatics installed in passenger Ford cars, SUVs and medium‑duty trucks. The specification is targeted at gasoline and diesel engines coupled to conventional automatic transmissions without a CVT system, and does not require special compatibility with DPFs or catalytic converters. Although newer standards MERCON LV and MERCON V offer improved fuel economy and better protection, they remain backward compatible with transmissions that require MERCON C, allowing technicians to safely use the updated products without voiding warranty conditions.
