Specification FORD CVT30 is Ford’s official standard for transmission oils, intended exclusively for continuously variable (CVT) gearboxes of passenger and crossover models, including Focus, C‑MAX, Fusion and their electric or hybrid variants. The technical requirement calls for stable viscosity in the 5W‑30/5W‑40 range, high resistance to oxidation and degradation at temperatures up to 150 °C, a low coefficient of friction to ensure smooth shifting and protection of planetary pulleys from wear. Oil that meets CVT30 must have excellent anti‑foam performance and be compatible with transmission seals and gaskets, and must not contain additives that could damage diesel after‑treatment filter (DPF) systems, although the specification itself concerns only the transmission.
