The FIAT 9.55550‑AV5 specification defines the requirements for a 5W‑40 synthetic engine oil for gasoline engines of Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and other Stellantis models. Oils that meet AV5 must have high oxidation stability, low volatility, effective wear protection and deposit control, and also meet ACEA A3/B4 and API SN/CF requirements. The specification is targeted at engines with a displacement of 1.2‑2.4 L, including turbocharged units with MultiAir technology, and provides compatibility with catalytic converters without the need for a special low‑SAPS formulation. Although newer approvals such as FIAT 9.55550‑AV6 can be used as a replacement, AV5 remains fully compatible with existing models and guarantees compliance with the manufacturer's warranty conditions.
