Caterpillar ECF-2

Caterpillar ECF‑2 certification defines the requirements for engine oils intended for heavy-duty Caterpillar diesel engines of medium and high power (e.g., C7, C9, C13, C15, C18, C20, C27, C30) used in trucks, excavators and truck cranes. Oil that meets ECF‑2 must provide stable protection under high loads and temperature regimes, reduce wear, keep the combustion chamber clean and support proper operation of after‑treatment systems (DPF) thanks to low SAPS content. The specification calls for base oils with viscosities ranging from 10W40 to 20W50, as well as synthetic options 5W30 that meet the E7 (E4/E7) class. XENUM products approved for ECF‑2 are suitable for both new and retrofitted engines, maintaining compatibility with the earlier ECF‑1 requirements, allowing a safe transition to more environmentally friendly formulas without losing warranty obligations. Thanks to these oil properties, fuel economy is improved, engine service life is extended, and the risk of filter contamination is minimized.
