BMW MTF LT-5

BMW MTF LT‑5 is a transmission oil specification developed by BMW for automatic gearboxes that require high thermal resistance, viscosity stability and precise friction characteristics under load. The specification provides low elasticity at high temperatures, protection against oxidation, prevention of foam formation and preservation of friction element cleanliness, which extends transmission service life. MTF LT‑5 is used in BMW models with 8‑speed and 9‑speed ZF automatics (e.g., 3, 5, 7 series, X5, X6, X7) and is suitable for gasoline and diesel engines, including turbocharged variants. Oils that meet this approval are compatible with DPF systems and catalytic converters, as they contain no harmful SAPS, allowing post‑catalytic device efficiency to be maintained.
