The BMW Mini Cooper T‑IV specification defines the requirements for engine oils intended exclusively for the gasoline turbocharged engines of Mini Cooper (1.6 L and 2.0 L, including S models). The oil must meet the Longlife‑01/Longlife‑01 FE standard, providing a stable viscosity of 5W‑30 or 5W‑40, high thermal resistance and oxidation protection, which allows optimal operation of the direct injection system and the catalyst. A low content of sulfate, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (low‑SAPS) prevents deposit formation in the catalyst and, if necessary, in the DPF, although Mini Cooper does not use a DPF. The specification guarantees reduced wear of crankshaft bearings, oil film stability at high temperatures, and fuel economy. Modern BMW Longlife‑04 or Longlife‑01 FE oils that meet stricter requirements remain compatible with this approval, simplifying selection in service centers.
