BMW LA 2634

The BMW LA 2634 specification defines the requirements for transmission oil for automatic gearboxes developed by BMW. Technically it sets the viscosity range, thermal stability, wear control and friction properties that ensure smooth shifting, protection of gear wheels and clutches, as well as long‑term operation under high temperatures and loads. LA 2634 is intended for conventional hydraulic automatic transmissions ZF 6HP, 6HP19, 8HP, installed in gasoline and diesel BMW 3‑, 5‑, 7‑series and X‑models, including variants with electronic control. The specification does not impose additional requirements for SAPS compatibility or DPF systems, therefore it is suitable for any engine connected to such a gearbox. When selecting oil that meets LA 2634, technicians can be confident of compatibility with BMW’s original recommendations and of maintaining optimal efficiency and durability of the transmission.
