BMW ETL7045

The BMW ETL7045 specification defines the requirements for transmission fluids for BMW automatic gearboxes, particularly for models with 6‑, 7‑ and 8‑speed ZF, as well as for the new GM 6L50/6L80 transmissions used in series 3, 5, 7, X5, X7 and some hybrid variants. A fluid that meets ETL7045 must provide stable viscosity over a wide temperature range, high thermal resistance and optimal friction properties, guaranteeing smooth shifting, minimal gear wear and protection against overheating. The specification provides compatibility with electronically controlled transmission management systems and does not require additional SAPS additives, therefore it is suitable for gearboxes without DPF‑systems and does not harm catalysts. ETL7045 is the successor to the older approval ETL7045E, so fluids approved under the new standard can safely replace products designed for the previous version.
