BMW DCTF-1

The BMW DCTF‑1 specification defines the requirements for transmission fluid intended for dual‑clutch (DCT) gearboxes of BMW, which are used in gasoline and diesel engines, including turbocharged and direct‑injection units. The fluid must provide stable viscosity over a wide temperature range, rapid cooling of braking elements, and protection against wear of gears and bearings, which is especially important during rapid gear changes and high loads. DCTF‑1 is compatible with most DCT models installed on the 1, 3, 5 series, X3, X5 and M versions, and supports the operation of the start‑stop system without loss of efficiency. Although the newer DCTF‑2 specification offers improved thermal resistance, DCTF‑1 remains fully compatible with existing transmissions, allowing its use in service centers without risking warranty conditions.
