GL-5 LS

API GL‑5 LS is a special category of transmission oils developed by the American Petroleum Institute for hypoid and planetary gear sets that operate under high load and high torque conditions. The LS designation (Low Sulphur) indicates a reduced content of sulfur‑based EP additives, which maintains the necessary wear protection while simultaneously reducing the risk of corrosion and overheating in limited‑slip differentials, and also improves compatibility with diesel particulate filters (DPF) in diesel power units where low SAPS requirements are important. Oils that meet GL‑5 LS specifications are suitable for heavy trucks, off‑road vehicles, passenger cars with rear‑wheel‑drive and all‑wheel‑drive transmissions, as well as for gearboxes subjected to increased loads in service workshops. They provide a stable protective film, high oxidation resistance and controlled viscosity over a wide temperature range, allowing optimal transmission performance even under extreme operating conditions.
