The AISIN‑WARNER JWS 3317 specification defines the requirements for automatic transmission fluids used in Aisin Warner gearboxes. Technically it sets the viscosity range, thermal‑stability parameters, oxidation resistance, and also controls friction characteristics that ensure smooth gear shifts, proper operation of the lock‑up torque converter, and protection of gears and seals under high loads. This standard is targeted at gasoline and diesel engines equipped with 4‑, 5‑ or 6‑speed Aisin automatic transmissions, as well as CVT hybrid systems where similar technology is used.
