ACEA E9

ACEA E9 code is a specification developed by the European Association of Engine Manufacturers for heavy-duty diesel units that operate under high loads and temperatures, particularly in trucks, buses and special equipment. Oils that meet E9 must provide high oxidation resistance, low volatility, excellent wear and corrosion protection, as well as effective detergent action that prevents soot buildup in combustion chambers. The specification calls for low content of sulfated, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (SAPS), making such oils compatible with exhaust after‑treatment systems – DPF and SCR, as well as with catalysts. ACEA E9 is suitable for engines that require high torque output and long oil‑change intervals, including turbocharged models with high soot levels. If an even tougher protection is needed, compatibility with the newer ACEA E11 can be considered, which retains all E9 requirements and adds stricter criteria for cleanliness and fuel economy.
