ACEA C1
ACEA C1 is the newest class of engine oils, developed by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association for gasoline engines with direct injection and hybrid powertrains, which require maximum fuel economy and low emissions. The specification calls for a low content of sulfated, aromatic and phosphorus compounds (Low‑SAPS), which ensures compatibility with catalysts and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems and, if needed, with particulate filters (DPF). An oil meeting ACEA C1 must have high oxidation stability, wear protection and viscosity retention over a wide temperature range, which extends engine service life and reduces fuel consumption. This code is often used by manufacturers such as Ford, Volkswagen and PSA for their new gasoline models, including GDI and mild‑hybrid, and guarantees that the product meets their durability and environmental requirements.
